Rosemary Seedling, 80mm Net Pot, 8 pcs
Spacing Requirement
Plant rosemary seedlings about 60-90cm (24-36 inches) apart to allow ample space for their bushy growth and ensure proper air circulation, which helps prevent diseases.
Harvest Period
Rosemary leaves can be harvested 6-8 weeks after planting seedlings or as soon as the plant is well-established. Continuous harvesting of sprigs encourages new growth and keeps the plant productive.
Light Requirement
Rosemary thrives in full sunlight, needing at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily. In areas with intense heat, some afternoon shade is beneficial. For indoor growth, provide 12-16 hours of light using grow lights.
Soil
Rosemary prefers light, well-draining soil with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5. Sandy or loamy soils are ideal. Avoid heavy, water-retentive soils, and amend with coarse sand or grit if necessary to improve drainage.
Water Requirement
Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings, as rosemary is drought-tolerant and sensitive to overwatering. Water deeply but infrequently, ensuring the soil dries out to prevent root rot. For potted rosemary, ensure the container has good drainage holes.
Fertiliser Application
Rosemary plants are not heavy feeders. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer or compost in early spring to boost growth. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can dilute the flavor of the leaves. Fertilize every 4-6 weeks during the growing season if necessary.
EC and pH Monitoring (Hydroponics)
For hydroponic rosemary, maintain an EC range of 1.6 to 2.4 mS/cm and a pH range of 5.5 to 6.5. Regularly monitor nutrient levels to support steady growth.
Pests and Diseases Control
Rosemary is relatively pest-resistant but can occasionally attract aphids, spider mites, or whiteflies. Ensure proper air circulation to prevent fungal diseases like powdery mildew. Use insecticidal soap or neem oil as needed to address pest issues.
