3 to 4 weeks lead time.
    • Spacing Requirement

Plant mint seedlings about 30-45cm (12-18 inches) apart to allow for vigorous growth and proper air circulation. Mint spreads quickly through runners, so providing ample space helps prevent overcrowding.

    • Harvest Period

Mint can be harvested 60-90 days after planting seedlings. Regularly picking leaves encourages bushy growth and keeps the plant productive throughout the growing season.

    • Light Requirement

Mint thrives in partial to full sunlight, needing at least 4-6 hours of sunlight daily. In hotter climates, mint benefits from some afternoon shade to prevent scorching. For indoor cultivation, use grow lights to provide 10-12 hours of light daily.

    • Soil

Plant mint in moist, well-draining soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0. Adding compost or organic matter to the soil ensures it remains fertile and retains moisture, which mint prefers.

    • Water Requirement

Mint requires consistently moist soil. Water the plant deeply whenever the top inch of soil feels dry, but avoid waterlogging, which can lead to root rot. Regular watering is especially important during hot or dry weather.

    • Fertiliser Application

Mint plants benefit from a light application of balanced fertilizer (10-10-10 NPK) every 4-6 weeks. Avoid over-fertilizing, as it can dilute the flavor of the leaves. Adding compost or organic mulch around the plant also helps maintain soil nutrients.

    • EC and pH Monitoring (Hydroponics)

For hydroponic systems, maintain an EC range of 1.2 to 1.8 mS/cm and a pH range of 5.5 to 6.5. Regularly monitor and adjust the nutrient solution to keep the plant healthy and flavorful.

    • Pests and Diseases Control

Watch for common pests like aphids, spider mites, and whiteflies. Mint is also susceptible to fungal diseases like powdery mildew or rust if grown in overly humid or poorly ventilated conditions. Use organic sprays or neem oil for pest control, and ensure proper spacing and air circulation to prevent diseases.
