Kai Lan Seedling, 10 pcs
Plant Kai Lan seedlings about 20-25cm (8-10 inches) apart to allow ample space for their leafy growth and to ensure good air circulation.
Kai Lan seedlings can be harvested in approximately 6 to 8 weeks after planting, depending on the variety and growing conditions. Harvest the tender shoots and leaves when they have reached the desired size, leaving the central portion of the plant to continue growing for subsequent harvests.
Kai Lan seedlings thrive in full sunlight but can tolerate partial shade. Provide them with at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight daily. If growing indoors, position them near a bright, indirect light source or provide them with 10-12 hours of light under a growth light.
Choose a well-draining, nutrient-rich soil for your Kai Lan seedlings. The soil should be fertile and have a pH level between 6.0 and 7.0 to support healthy growth.
Keep the soil consistently moist for Kai Lan seedlings. Regular watering is crucial, especially during hot and dry periods. Ensure the soil remains evenly moist but not waterlogged. Water at the base of the plants to avoid wetting the foliage, reducing the risk of fungal issues.
Kai Lan seedlings benefit from nutrient-rich soil. Prior to planting, incorporate a balanced fertilizer into the soil following the recommended application rates. As the seedlings grow, you can top-dress them with compost or apply a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 3-4 weeks to provide ongoing nourishment.
Regularly monitor the Electrical Conductivity (EC) and pH levels of the nutrient solution in a hydroponic system. Kai Lan seedlings prefer an EC range between 1.6 to 2.2 mS/cm and a pH range of 5.8 to 6.5. Adjust the nutrient solution as needed to maintain these levels throughout the growth cycle.
Keep a close eye on common pests that affect Kai Lan, such as aphids, caterpillars, leaf miners and whiteflies. Regularly inspect your Kai Lan seedlings and implement appropriate pest control measures as needed.
Kai Lan prefers cooler temperatures and can be sensitive to extreme heat. Consider using shade cloth or planting them in a location that provides some protection from intense afternoon sun.
